Backyard Pier Install and First Light

Installation of the new pier and mount interface plate by Brian and Andrea to support my equatorial mount for pointing big lenses and telescopes in the backyard. All shots from my iPhone 7+

This is First Light image using the new pier and the Takahashi Epsilon 180ED + Nikon D850 camera. Unguided. 20X5min exposures. Processed in PixInsight.

During the day the mount (telescope removed) is covered by two plastic bags, a space blanket, and a waterproof swamp cooler cover. Here we see the plastic bags and space blanket - designed to keep the mount at ambient air temp and protect it from the sun.
