Venus Transit
Taken near Continental Divide, NM. Nikon D800, old Nikkor 400 mm f/2.8 ED (1992) non AF lens with ND 3.0 internal filter + TC-301 2X teleconverter. I kept the lens covered when not in use. All shots made in Live View mode, mirror up, cable release, tripod, manual pointing. Sky was photometric, altitude of site about 7800 feet. Shot over 700 FX RAW images on one battery charge. All images processed in LR 4.1. Color balance set to 5500K. Tried to maintain uniform exposure by watching live histogram. D800 is an awesome camera.
